Description

Collecting information from users can be difficult, through use of third-party platforms or otherwise, especially when attempting to integrate this data with your current system. This app allows you to create, send, and receive custom surveys to users directly in your Appian environment, allowing you to use this data throughout your environment as needed. This version of the Survey App uses a Record-centric approach, which allows for quicker and easier implementation.

Surveys can be created by anyone in the Survey Creators group. Surveys can either be created from scratch, or duplicated from one previously created.

Survey creators have a great deal of control regarding scheduling & assignment of a survey.

Unlike other survey tools available, the survey app's record-centric design natively allows for context and related work to be applied to each survey. The Surveys record gives a user the ability to check the status of scheduled, ongoing, and completed results. The 'Responses' view allows survey creators to view responses collectively or individually. Additionally, they will have the ability to export results into a .csv file.

The Survey App is designed as a reusable base framework that can be quickly extended to meet your organization’s unique needs.

The application was developed following Appian best practices and styling recommendations. It can be used not only as a starting point for a similarly required solution, but also as a learning and training tool.

***** Installation Instructions *****

  1. Ensure prerequisite plugins are deployed
  2. Import the SurveyApp.zip application package into your Appian instance.
  3. Verify and publish the SVRY_DS data store.
  4. Open your DB client and import the sql file provided (MySQL.SurveyViews.sql) in the attachments below.
  • Note: This SQL statement was created and tested in MySQL. If you are using a different RDBMS, you may need to adjust the SQL statement.
  1. In Appian, verify and publish the entity mappings of the SRVY_ViewsDS data store.
  2. Setup Application Security as per roles:
    a. SRVY Administrators: Admin role for all objects
    b. SRVY Creators: Can create Surveys (Manager access to New Survey PM)
    c. SRVY All Users: All Users with viewer or basic access to the Surveys
  3. Create your first Survey!
  • In Tempo goto Actions and click on New Survey.
  • As a Site, use the New Survey page.
